About Follow First

Follow First Leadership Training focuses on teaching team members how to effectively support leadership, contribute as high-performing members of a team, and prepare themselves for future leadership roles.

What We Believe

We believe that many performance challenges within organizations stem from a failure to clearly train employees on organizational expectations, legal responsibilities, and the behaviors required to function effectively within a team environment.

Organizations often place significant emphasis on leadership development, particularly for newly promoted employees. However, one of the most valuable forms of training an organization can provide is learning how to follow effectively. Strong organizations are built on strong teams. Leadership can only succeed when individuals understand how to actively support a mission, contribute to a team, and help move an organization toward its goals.

Followership is Misunderstood

Unfortunately, the concept of “following” has evolved into something it was never intended to mean. Many people associate following with passively moving with the crowd or simply complying without thought. We see followership differently.

Effective followership is active, not passive. It means supporting a mission, strengthening leadership, thinking critically, contributing solutions, and taking ownership of the team’s success. It is separating yourself from the herd and is the first step towards becoming an effective leader.
